摘要 /abstractLevel of detail (LOD) modeling or mesh reduction hasbeen found useful in interactive walkthrough applications.In particular, view-dependent LOD modeling hasits strength in selective refinement and effective view andback-face culling. In this paper, we propose a viewdependentLOD modeling in which the selective refinementsis performed according to a dependency graph. Thedependency graph is constructed based on a progressivemeshing scheme that is clustering-based and takes both geometryand topology simplification into account. In thedependency graph, nodes represent the simplification stepwhile the edge representing the relation between nodes.The relation associated with each edge is classified as eitherinheritance or dependence relation in order to facilitatethe use of spatial and temporal coherence. In the run-timeor selective refinement phase, a scheme is proposed to reducethe amount of selective and gauged nodes. Our experimentsreveal that the proposed scheme provides a steadyand efficient computational efficiency in the process of selectiverefinement.
